Sisters are a Girls Best Friend

When Samantha was born, I couldn't believe how much love I had in my heart for her.

Then, 3 years later, Miss E was born.
Now, seeing how loving Sam is towards her sister and how many pictures she has taken of her, I think now is an amazing time to share one Sam's best friends, her sister!

Here's to hoping that this friendship lasts a life time!

Pardon the Reno...

Well, it's been a while since I've posted miss Snapshot Sammy's artistic visions and let me share with you why.

Firstly, trying to pry the camera out of her hands so I can download them to my computer has been near impossible. In fact, she now hides her camera from me so I can't take it!

Secondly, we've been in a crazy DIY kitchen update reno! Thankfully, Sammy was there to show the process!
It's interesting going through her pictures and seeing how she sees everything.
Things seem so much...bigger...in her pictures!
Though I guess her 3 year old point of view is much lower than the average photographer.
Well, there is still a lot more to share!
But here's our beautiful kitchen all done and ready for cooking

Happy Canada D'eh!

Well, it is my family's favorite time of year...Canada Day!
Not only do I get to celebrate my beautiful country,
but I get to celebrate it with my family and friends.
This year, Grandpa Dave went all out and it was a blast, literally!
I just loved watching the fireworks go off in our backyard,
surrounded by our friends and family.

But I must saw, watching Sam take pictures of the show and
seeing the stunning photos afterwards, was by far my favorite part of the day!

Through the eyes of a child, you'll never know what to expect!
But these are truly astonishing!

The Good, The Bad and The Blurry

Well, for Sammy's birthday we let her open up "her" camera. (Thank you Nikon and Strategic Ampersand) As soon as she opened it, she got a HUGE smile on her face and excitedly exclaimed that that was "her camera. Not Mommy's camera, Sammy's camera."

Now, I know that she knows how to take a pretty decent picture with my iPhone, but let's be honest, it's not that hard. The camera is decent and all she really has to do is look at the camera screen and push the big white circle. I've also helped to show her how to take a picture with my big 'ol Nikon 1 S1. So, I was very interested in how she would use her new camera.

The Nikon COOLPIX S33, is not a touch screen, so not quite as easy as my iPhone, but we opened it up, I quickly showed her which button turned it on and which button took a picture and let her go wild!

She had a blast carrying her camera with her everywhere, telling people to "stay still", "say cheeeeese!" and taking "random" pictures of what she found interesting or important!

Here is a handful from her first few days. As she got the hang of not getting to close to a picture and waiting for the square to turn green, she got better and better!

I can't wait to share her Canada Day photos with you!

The World According to Me

Samantha is officially 3 years old, and having grown up with a mom who could probably start a Photographers Anonymous group, she loves to not only get in front of the camera but has started to photobomb my phone. It seems like every time I scrolled through my photo album, there were random pictures scattered throughout the photos.

Then she started to pick up my camera, wanting to learn how to take pictures with "Mommy's camera". What surprised me the most, was not her interest in taking the pictures, but how beautiful her pictures were.
For the first time, I was able to see the world through her eyes...
and it was beautiful.
So, I called up my good friends at Amperstand and Nikon and asked if they would be willing to lend Samantha a camera for this new blog. As much as I loved her ambition, mommy's camera was not shockproof or waterproof...They were just as excited as I was and generously lent Samantha the Nikon COOLPIX S33! An easy to use camera that is waterproof (10m) and shockproof (1.5m) just in time for summer fun!
Every week, I will upload her photos, completely unedited, for everyone to see and experience. For now, she is exploring her new camera and refusing to let it go! (She is sleeping with it currently...)

So stay tuned, this is going to be a fun summer!
